The Serengeti is the Mara’s vast Tanzanian twin: 14,750 square kilometres of short-grass plains where the wildebeest herds spend most of their year. It anchors the southern half of any cross-border East Africa circuit.
The migration calves in the south around February and pushes north toward the Mara from June. Big cats are outstanding year-round, and the sheer scale of the plains is unlike anywhere in Kenya.
